Bradford’s Aakash Restaurant named ‘Best in the North East’ at National Curry Awards

Aakash Restaurant in Cleckheaton has been named as the ‘Best Curry in the North East’ at the 12th annual British Curry Awards.

The glitzy ceremony took place on 28 November, with 13 restaurants picking up honours at the ceremony, which took place at Battersea Evolution in London.

Hosted by comedian Alistair McGowan, celebrity guests included chef Heston Blumenthal; actors and TV personalities Colin Salmon, Adil Ray and Saira Khan; MPs Chris Grayling, Ann Main and Paul Scully; Great British Bake-Off semi-finalist Chetna Makan; The Apprentice 2016 candidate Karthik Nagesan, and Sarah Ferguson.

The awards, known as the Oscars of the curry industry, crowned Aakash Restaurant the best in the North East in which the nomination process involves members of the public nominating their favourite curry restaurant for a deserving accolade.

Arguably one of the most famous restaurants in Bradford and beyond, the Aakash Restaurant is known as the largest Indian restaurant in the world. The restaurant recently opened its doors every day of the week. Build  on a reputation for having a passion for excellence, both in the food they serve and the service they provide, their world famous five course Indian buffet, prepared by 5-Star Chef’s, offers the customer a chance to sample as many of their delectable dishes as they like with a choice of over 54 dishes.
